A 31-year-old software engineer in Hyderabad allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday, reportedly unable to cope with the requirements of his new job, police said.
According to police officials, the tech professional was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence in Miyapur. He had joined a prominent software company about two months ago and had recently taken up coding-related work that he reportedly found difficult to manage.
Investigators said the engineer had discussed his work-related concerns with his wife and his brother. His wife, who had travelled to her native place in Andhra Pradesh in January, had been in regular phone contact with him but had not yet returned to Hyderabad.
Police clarified that long working hours were not cited as the reason for the incident. Authorities have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
The incident has once again drawn attention to mental health challenges faced by professionals in high-pressure industries. Experts emphasise the importance of early intervention, open communication, and access to counselling support for individuals experiencing work-related stress.
