Global cosmetics major L’Oréal has announced a $383 million investment to establish a beauty technology hub in Hyderabad, positioning the city as a key centre for AI-driven innovation in the global beauty industry. The project is expected to generate around 2,000 technology-focused jobs by 2030.
The proposed hub will focus on integrating artificial intelligence, data science, and digital tools into product development, personalised beauty solutions, and consumer engagement platforms. Company officials said the investment reflects confidence in Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a technology and innovation ecosystem.
Industry observers note that the move aligns with Telangana’s efforts to attract high-value global investments in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing. Hyderabad’s established IT infrastructure, skilled workforce, and policy support have made it a preferred destination for multinational companies expanding their research and digital capabilities.
L’Oréal’s beauty tech hub is expected to collaborate with local talent, startups, and academic institutions to develop next-generation solutions in skincare diagnostics, virtual try-on technologies, and sustainable product innovation. The initiative also reinforces India’s role as an important market and innovation base within the company’s global strategy.
State officials welcomed the announcement, stating that the investment strengthens Hyderabad’s position as a leading destination for technology-led industries and global corporate partnerships.
